The city of Valladolid has cancelled its scheduled fireworks session for September 6, according to an announcement from the Ayuntamiento de Valladolid (city council). The decision comes after regional authorities declared a weather-related alert for Castilla y León.
The alert, reported by Europa Press, covers a risk of fires starting Thursday and lasting through Sunday. The Junta de Castilla y León issued the declaration, prompting local municipalities to review public events involving pyrotechnics or open flames.
Valladolid’s cancellation is part of a broader pattern across the region. The Ayuntamiento de Santa María del Páramo also postponed its fireworks spectacle, citing safety reasons. In Salamanca province, the town of Santa Marta delayed its correfoc—a traditional event featuring fire and fireworks—for the second time due to the fire alert, as reported by La Gaceta de Salamanca.
